Old dreams never die they just get filed away

Gifts for Teachers - Walmart

I have a love/hate relationship with Walmart.

I love it because they have EVERYTHING. From kids clothes to dog food.
I hate it because they have EVERYTHING. Which means hours of lost time wandering around, and hundreds of dollars spent on crap that I probably don't need!
Last night the kids and I took a trip to Walmart to grab some last-minute teacher gifts for end of school
I snapped a few photos...
Nolan loving up his "chi-chunks"
Emma picking out the perfect scent for Mrs. Podnar
Playing with the summer toys
Look Mom - Justin Bieber! (she says she doens't have the Bieber fever - ya right!!)

A few things

WOW!!! There's alot going on this week!
I just checked the weather network website to see our forecast for the weekend, and this is what I see on the homepage:
"Powerful Tornado tears across Midland, ON"

"Manitoba Forest Fire forces evacuations"

"Earthquake rocks Ontario, Quebec"

WTF!!!
On a lighter note, Nolan was a super duper cutie this morning when we dropped Emma off at school.
There were a TON of BIG puddles in the school yard, and of course, he couldn't resist!

Here's the aftermath... soaked up to his knees!!!

EARTHQUAKE???

wtf
that was the weirdest feeling EVER!!
All by myself at work, and suddenly...

the ground starts to move under me, I see the walls moving around me, and I hear things rattling behind me!

WTF!!!

Are the neighbours doing some serious renovations?

Did a train de-rail and is log rolling towards me?

NO!!

Apparently, it was an earthquake. A 5.5 earthquake which originated in Montreal!

OMG...2012...is all I have to say.

Phew! and Potty Training

Last night was interesting.

It's always pretty hectic when Matt's working overtime. Especially when it's tub night.
For some reason, Nolan has recently starting pooping in the bath tub during his bath. Last night was the 2nd time. Although this time it wasn't isolated to only the tub. It ended up on the floor, and all over the toilet seat. Potty training is fun. enough said.

Bed time however was much easier than other nights lately. I decided to have story time in my bed, instead of trying to get Nolan down first in his room, then Emma in hers. First we read Nolan's books, then I read them a chapter of Emma's rainbow fairy book, then Emma read Nolan & I a Clifford book.
Then I told Nolan it was time for bed, and off he went. No problem, no crying. It was heaven!

After the kids were in bed I managed to get all the laundry put away, and pack for going to the trailer tonight. I skipped my workout though. shhh.
I'll try an go for a run tonight.

This morning I stopped by Matt's work to meet Tammy and pick up his Father's Day gift. I hope he likes it!
Picture to come later. My cell is almost dead and won't let me take a pic of it.

This morning

6:15am: I wake to the sound of Nolan crying "mama dada mama dada" and the VROOM of Matt's truck as he gets ready to leave for work. Ugh - I hate waking up early.
Luckily Nolan is finally at the age where a movie in bed will entertain him enough so I can get in a few more winks before I have to drag myself out of bed.

I put on the Chipmunks Squeakquel, one of his all-time favs, and snuggled up next to him.

6:25am "mama mama mama mama mama mama mama mama mama mama" Nolan singing my name and climbing on my head.

back to sleep

6:50am my alarm goes off - ugh, still not ready to get up, but I have to shower. hit snooze

7:00am alarm goes off again. Get up, wake Emma and drag her into my bed to watch Nolan while I shower.

Proceed with normal hectic morning routine since I really should have gotten up at 6:15 when Nolan woke me.
I wish I were a morning person!

The kiddies on the way to school/daycare:

Emma is so beautiful this morning - even though I just realized we didn't brush her hair before we left. She's decided she's growing out her bangs as well. I'm going to have to start practicing some of the hair tips from Jenn at Girly Do's by Jenn . She's got some awesome ideas.

Tonight's schedule will be hectic. Home by 6pm, make dinner, Matt goes back to work for overtime, homework, bath kids, 2 bedtime rituals, battle with Nolan to go to sleep (he's really into daddy putting him to bed lately, but daddy's been working a lot of overtime.), fold & put away 15 loads of laundry (or so it seems), pack for weekend at trailer, make lunches, work out, take care of computer stuff. Hopefully be finished everything by time Matt's home at 11:30. Then, bed! start all over tomorrow...

Just found out Matt's laid off for 2 weeks. Icing on top of the cake!

My little Artist

I love that Emma is artistic.

Last night while Emma patiently waited for me to put Nolan to bed, she snuggled up on her bed with her bucket of markers, and one of her numerous notebooks. "Don't look, Mommy" she said when I came into her room. "I'm not" I said. She was just finishing up another masterpiece. Finally when it was finished, she produced a portrait of "Cinees Strawberry Shortcake" - that's Chinese. See mama, she said, the sun has slanted eyes.

I love her innocence.

We proceeded to complete our bedtime reading ritual. Emma's really into these Rainbow Fairy books right now. She has 3 complete sets - I think there are about 10 in total. She drives me nuts every time a new scholastic order comes home from school with a set in it that she doesn't have. We're reading this one right now:

When we were finished reading Emma says "momma, do you want to see me draw one of the goblins"? (The 'bad guys' in these books are green goblins with long pointy noses and pointy ears). "of course!" I say. "Don't Look!" (I'm never allowed to look)

I love to watch her draw.

Emma is so cute when she draws. She has this intense concentration. A bite of the lip, a furrow of the brow. She's trying to make it just so.

"Hold on momma, I'm just gonna color it quick"

Here is the final product - and a photo of the"real thing"

AMAZING!

Weekend Round-up

We had a few things on the agenda for this weekend. Firstly, of course, we were going to the trailer for some much deserved rest and relaxation. Secondly, Emma was going to Julia's birthday pool party on Saturday afternoon.

Friday afternoon was so beautiful, I skipped out of work a little early to get a head start on packing up the car. Of course the one time that I get most things ready on Thursday night, is the one time that we don't end up leaving for the lake until 9pm!!!

Saturday turned out to be rainy, rainy, rainy, until we left to take Emma to Georgetown to see Julia. It cleared up a little - enough that Julia still got to have her pool party. Emma's always a little nervous about pool parties, or swimming in general -since she claims she's afraid of water. I have no idea where this comes from. I think she just doesn't like to be splashed. After about an hour of dawdling around and clinging to Daddy, she decided to put her bathing suit on, and sit at the edge of the pool. Luckily there were a few other girls sitting on the steps of the shallow end, and Emma quickly made friends with them.

Nolan decided he really liked all of the swimming goggles, and proceeded to try on every pair.

Silly boy was galloping around laughing like he was the coolest dude. He's too much for words...love him to death.

After leaving Emma to her party, and sleepover, we decided to head back to the trailer, since the rain was holding off. Had an awesome dinner of chicken & steak kabobs and pasta salad. We put Nolan to bed, and played a game of Risk. Matt won, of course. :)

Sunday we took a long walk around the park with Nolan & Zoe. We decided to take a tour of Phase 2, since we never really venture over there. On our travels we met a nice lady, Leanne, who waved us down - wanting to talk to us about Zoe. This is something that happens often when you have a Bulldog. Turns out she has 2 Bullies of her own, and took us down to her place to see them. So cute!!! Her male was all white, and just a little younger than Zoe, but BIG! (A possibility for breeding), and the female was brindle like Zoe, but more black and grey than orange. We had a nice chat with Leanne, and continued on our way. Checked out some trailers for sale on the lot, but didn't find anything really to our liking.

We headed back to Georgetown to pick up Emma around 4... stopped at Walmart to grab a potty for Nolan. He's decided he's ready for pee pee in the potty now. He got a Cars potty, of course, and used it as soon as we got home. Such a good boy.

Here's a cute pic of Emma that Matt snapped from his phone...
I can't believe how BIG she's getting, and how beautiful!

Happy Monday!
